The central Alabama marina is in it's infancy. I have gotten gas for boats in, have the electicity and I have city water at available(running line for over a mile.) the road is in. It is passable now but will really make it nice with about 2 days work. I have a permit for in excess of 330 slips with room for additions, permission to have a travel lift and for fuel pumped to pleasure and commercial craft from a small island just out from the shoreline. (Only travel lift and commercial fuel facililty for 170 miles.) Demopolis, Al is the next closest. We are cutting a road in at the shoreline for parking access, etc. for the second row of slips. We are now working on the first. The road will go for over 3,000 feet for the 330 slips and will have parking areas, etc. when finished. There is nearly a 1/2 mile of shoreline of which none is leased. The permit is from the Corp of Engineers and there is no percent to be paid nor fees from this point. This connects to the Tenn Tom waterway in Demopolis Al. 391 miles to the gulf. Water only fluctuates about 6 inchs. I had an EPA water archeological survey turtle impact study done and all paperwork complete. The property is about 40 acres with room to do whatever- campground, etc.
The property is 30 minutes from Birmingham and Jasper Ala. There are no other marinas such as this from Demopolis Alabama on up. There are a couple in Tuscaloosa but no repair facility, etc. and one has no fuel. The ones up here are all on leased land and are shutting down due to termination of lease so this is the only privately owned land with permit for a marina in the area. I will be glad to talk to you about it. I have the fuel thing on go. I would entertain a Managing partner in the endeavor. Let me know what you think.
